Apprenticeships are high quality work-based training programmes which will help you to learn the skills that employers want, whilst achieving a qualification in your chosen area of work. Who can apply for an Apprenticeship? If you currently live in the UK and are not in full time education you can apply for an Apprenticeship. How long will it take me to complete an Apprenticeship? There is no set time limit to complete an Apprenticeship, it depends on the apprentice's and the employer's needs. However, on average an Apprenticeship takes between one and three years, although some, such as engineering, can take up to four to five years. As with any job you will have to show enthusiasm, a level of dedication and have a professional attitude. Your working hours will be agreed with your employer, as will your wage and how this will increase as you progress through your Apprenticeship. You will be working towards an Apprenticeship Framework at Level 2 or 3, so you'll need to manage any course work that you'll need to complete. You will also spend time at South Birmingham College to work towards developing your Key Skills qualifications, such as working in teams, problem-solving, communication, using new technologies and in most cases towards a relevant technical certificate.
